An update on what's new in Brickanta

In May, construction lawyer Anne Wijkman joined Brickanta along with Praxiom, her database of construction-law court rulings. This week, that work arrived in the chat.

Case law, straight from the chat

When a clause in the administrative provisions (AF) or contract terms (EK) raises a question, the answer often depends on how courts have read similar wording before. Now, you can simply ask. Point Brickanta to a specific clause or provision, ask how it has been tried, and the answer draws on more than 300 construction-law court rulings, with references to the judgments behind it.

It helps most when the stakes are real: a notice about unforeseen ground conditions, a hindrance claim or a change order (ÄTA) discussion with the counterpart. Your position gets the weight of how similar disputes have actually been decided, early enough to shape the conversation before it turns into a dispute.

Expert construction law knowledge, now available on every project.

Have a good weekend,

The Brickanta team

Society builders spend a surprising amount of time gathering documents before anything can be sent. This week, Brickanta started doing that part for you.

File groups: the right documents, gathered and ready to send

Ask the chat for the documents a task needs, and Brickanta puts them together as a file group: the relevant files, down to the pages that matter, collected in one place. Every file group shows up on the Files page, ready for you to review.

Tender documents (FFU) are a good example. Ask Brickanta to assemble the tender documents for each purchase in your project, and each one arrives as its own file group. When it looks right, download it as a zip and send it on.

You make the final call on every group. Add or remove files, or single pages within a document, directly in the interface, or ask the chat to do it for you. Everything stays in view, so you know exactly what you are sending out.

Have a good weekend,

The Brickanta team

Last week, we gathered construction leaders in Stockholm for the Brickanta Summit and showed the all-new Brickanta for the first time. Thank you to everyone who joined us. What a night.

After eight weeks of development, we're now bringing the first build of one of its most ambitious foundations into Brickanta: work packages (arbetsmoment).

Work packages: following the work from requirements to completion

Groundworks, structural frame, facade, building services. Each is work that needs to be planned, procured, carried out, paid for and checked. The challenge is keeping those steps connected.

Together with some of Sweden's largest builders, we've been refining how Brickanta represents that work. Each work package brings a scope together with its requirements, responsibilities, costs, files and decisions, so there is one continuous thread from the original requirements, through procurement and production, to final inspection.

The benefit is continuity. The story of a piece of work usually lives across a cost estimate, an inbox, a schedule and someone's memory. When a colleague takes over, a supplier is replaced, or the project moves from tender to production, much of that context goes missing. With work packages, the reasoning travels with the work, so whoever picks it up next can see what was agreed, why, and what still needs to happen.

The same structure is what lets Brickanta help proactively. To know what comes next, what it depends on and what has already happened, our agents need to understand how construction work moves forward, and work packages give them that. Brickanta is designed to start from a recommended approach and adapt to how your team groups work in its estimates, schedules and procurement plans.

This first build lays the foundation. Over the coming weeks, we'll deepen the construction knowledge behind it and bring more of the work itself into each package, starting with procurement.

Have a good weekend,

Time for a final teaser.

Last week was expertise: what the partner knows before you teach it anything. This week is about what it does with everything it knows. If you remember our sendout four weeks ago, we wrote that when Brickanta moves a step forward on its own, it tells you what it did and why. This is that step. This week's quality is initiative.

The best people on a project see what needs doing and get it moving. They also know which calls are theirs to make. In the new Brickanta, the partner works the same way.

It gets started without being asked. Connect your SharePoint or Dropbox folder and Brickanta starts reading. Once the files are in, the workflows begin on their own, so the review is already underway before anyone on the team has opened the project.

It keeps up as the project moves. Projects change constantly. New documents arrive, earlier ones are replaced, and something decided in spring can look different by autumn. The partner is built to keep track of what has shifted and what it might touch, so you hear about it while there is still time to act.

It knows when to hold back. Reading, comparing and preparing are things it does freely. Anything with lasting consequences, it brings to you first. Every step it takes on its own is visible, and you can adjust or undo it.

Initiative is where the other six qualities come together. Memory gives the partner something to act on. Direction gives it somewhere to aim. Expertise tells it what matters. Collaboration, transparency and customisation keep it working with your team, in plain sight and on your terms.

For seven weeks, we have shown you the pieces one at a time. Next week, you see them come together for the first time. Everything we built this summer, and everything our partners taught us along the way, in one new Brickanta.

Stay tuned,
