Spentab: First with rubber in artificial turf, now first with AI in its projects

Spentab installed Sweden’s first artificial grass football pitch in 1975. Today the family-owned company, now run by the second generation of the Otterström family, uses Brickanta to find risks earlier in its projects and build more with the same team.

“In the nineties we were among the first to mix fine rubber into artificial turf. Today we are among the first to use AI in our projects. It is the same drive: building better facilities, with quality, function and safety at the core.”

Challenge

Several tenders arrive every week, each with hundreds of pages to read before Spentab can decide whether to bid.

Every football pitch, schoolyard and sports ground starts as a tender. Spentab’s estimators have to decide quickly which inquiries to bid on, then find the requirements, risks and inconsistencies hidden in large document packages. After winning a job, the documentation load continues. As a BKMA-certified company, Spentab turns project material into quality, environment and work-environment requirements, control plans and evidence for every project. That knowledge sits with experienced people, and reading time limits how many projects the team can take on.

Solution

Spentab connected Brickanta to its SharePoint and runs every new project through it, from first inquiry to signed contract.

Brickanta reads each tender as soon as it lands in Spentab’s SharePoint. It compares the documents against construction practice and earlier projects, produces a concise bid/no-bid report, and flags the risks the team should look at. Drawings are checked against each other and against the specifications, so contradictions surface before they reach the estimate. After award, Spentab uses Brickanta to compare the proposed contract with the rest of the contract documents before signing. Spentab’s own tender routine, bid template and BKMA requirements shape how the platform works.

Results

Spentab finds risks earlier and spends its time on the projects worth winning.

“If we find the risks earlier, we can build more with the same resources. In the end, it is about more places where kids can run, play and move.”
